Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday paid floral tribute to Bharatiya Jan Sangh founder, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary in Kolkata. Dr Mookerjee was the founder of Bharatiya Jan Sangh. Born in Kolkata, Mookerjee was a prominent Indian politician, barrister and academician. The day began with floral tributes paid to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary at Raj Bhawan, the first such commemorative ceremony being organized at the Governor’s House.

WB Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said, “A historic day at Raj Bhawan. Birth Anniversary Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee was observed for the first time at Raj Bhawan. It was my privilege to put his portrait at Raj Bhawan for the first time in 2019. A befitting tribute to him would be to make WB State of his dreams.”

He said, “The youth must be told that the state was created by the late leader. His monumental contributions for WB and Nation make all of us proud.”

Dhankhar also said, “Scrapping Article 370 in J&K a Tribute to Syama Prasad Mookerjee. His dream realized. Let us resolve to emulate him by always keeping NATION FIRST and ensuring State of West Bengal is at pinnacle of the Nation.”

Governor Dhankhar further said, “Visit to ancestral home of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee was like being on pilgrimage- I got inspired, motivated and energized in service to people of WB. Youth need to be informed of his phenomenal contribution in creating WB. Let’s work to realize his dream WB.”

Earlier WB Governor had tweeted, “Floral Tributes will be paid to Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee on his birth anniversary at Raj Bhawan on July 6 at 11.30am. First of such commemorative ceremony is being organized at Raj Bhawan. His monumental contributions for WB and Nation make all of us proud.”
