Kolkata: Rungta Eco Extrusions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rungta Greentech Limited, has inaugurated its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Howrah in West Bengal, marking a significant step towards sustainability in the plastics sector, says a press release.

The new plant, set to be fully operational by the end of March 2025, is poised to play a key role in revolutionizing the production of food-grade rPET granules.

With an annual capacity of 17,280 metric tons (MT), the facility will employ cutting-edge technology sourced from NGR GmbH, Austria—an industry leader known for its advanced recycling technology.

This innovative approach is designed to enhance the quality of recycled PET (rPET), ensuring that the granules meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

The plant’s strategic location in Howrah, a hub for industrial manufacturing, ensures efficient supply chain operations, enabling the company to serve both domestic and international markets.

The rPET granules produced at Rungta Eco Extrusions’ facility will have approvals from prominent global food safety authorities, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

These certifications underline the commitment of Rungta Eco Extrusions to produce high-quality, food-safe materials for use in packaging and other consumer goods.

Additionally, Rungta Eco Extrusions is expanding its scope by venturing into the production of recycled polyethylene (rPE) and recycled polypropylene (rPP) granules.

These will cater to a variety of applications, including injection moulding, blow moulding, and extrusion processes, providing a versatile range of sustainable material options for the manufacturing industry.

Deepak Rungta, Managing Director, Rungta Eco Extrusions, said, “We are thrilled to be at the forefront of the circular economy, offering sustainable solutions that not only address the global plastic waste crisis but also help industries adopt eco-friendly practices. Our new facility in Howrah is a testament to our commitment to environmental responsibility, innovation, and the future of recycling.”

The inauguration event was attended by key industry leaders, local dignitaries, and environmental advocates, all united in their vision for a greener future.

Rungta Eco Extrusions’ investment in state-of-the-art technology, combined with its dedication to sustainability, positions the company as a leader in the evolving recycling sector.

As the company moves forward, the new facility will not only boost local employment and economic growth but also contribute to the global push for sustainable manufacturing processes.

With its ambitious vision and unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability, Rungta Eco Extrusions is set to lead the charge in reshaping the future of recycled plastics.
