Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood actor and television star Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday. As per reports, he was found hanging at his Bandra residence. Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has left his colleagues and fans in shock.
The actor was found dead at his home in Mumbai, police said today, confirming his suicide. He was 34. The police are investigating his death. No suicide note has been found.
“It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work like they have done so far. We request media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief,” a statement from Sushant’s team said.
A forensic team is collecting items from his room and the post-mortem would be conducted in Cooper and Bhabha Hospital. As per sources, COVID test and other protocols would also be followed.
His death comes just barely a week after his former manager Disha Salian reportedly died by suicide. Rajput had tweeted his shock at the news on social media.
His demise came as a shock to many as this is the fourth death of a famous personality from the Hindi film industry to pass away in the past two months, after Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor succumbed to cancer and Wajid Khan who died due to coronavirus pandemic.
Sushant was recently seen in the film “Chhichhore” which dealt with the extreme pressures of academic competition. He was last seen in Netflix’s Drive.
Sushant made his Bollywood debut with Kai Po Che in 2014 and later starred in films like PK, Kedarnath, Shudh Desi Romance and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. His last appearance was in the Netflix film “Drive”. He made his acting debut with TV serial Pavitra Rishta.
