PM condoles the passing away of actor Sushant Singh Rajput

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the passing away of noted actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Condoling the passing away of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, PM Narendra Modi, on Sunday, said that the 34-year old Bollywood actor was gone too soon.

PM Modi said Sushant’s rise inspired many and has left several memorable performances.

Prime Minister said in his tweet, “Sushant Singh Rajput…a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti.”

Condolences poured in from all quarters for the highly-talented actor who won several awards for his roles in movies like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, PK and Kedarnath.

Vice President, Delhi Chief Minister, Union Civil Aviation Minister, Akshay Kumar, Virat Kohli, among several others, expressed condolences over his demise.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said, “Deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of the young and talented actor, Shri Sushant Singh Rajput. He brought to life several memorable characters on the silver screen.”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed shock over the death of and said that Sushant’s death has left millions devastated.

“Shocked & deeply saddened to hear about the suicide of talented & brilliant actor Sushant Singh Rajput. This unfortunate death of a young & successful individual brings issues related to mental health, particularly in these times, to the fore. RIP,” Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.

Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar took to twitter and wrote,” Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless…I remember watching #SushantSinghRajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family.”

Indian Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli said, “Shocked to hear about Sushant Singh Rajput. This is so difficult to process. May his soul RIP and may god give all the strength to his family and friends.”

Bollywood actor and television star Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday. Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has left his colleagues and fans in shock. 

The actor was found dead at his home in Mumbai, police said, confirming his suicide. However, no suicide note has been recovered from Rajput’s residence, as per the police. Further investigation is underway.

His demise came as a shock to many as this is the fourth death of a famous personality from the Hindi film industry to pass away in the past two months, after Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor succumbed to cancer and Wajid Khan died due to coronavirus pandemic.

Born on January 21, 1986, in Patna, Bihar, Sushant started his career with the Hindi television industry and starred in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ which catapulted his acting career. He got his Bollywood break with ‘Kai Po Che!’ which earned him the Filmfare for best male debut. From there Rajput went on to give box office hits like ‘MS Dhoni-The Untold Story’, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, among others. His last appearance was in ‘Chhichhore’ and Netflix Film ‘Drive’.
