Imphal: Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre recently launched the HPV Vaccination Services for the first time at the premises of the Centre in Imphal.
Dr. (Prof) GS Moirangthem-Director & CEO, Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre, said, “The HPV vaccine targets the HPV types that most commonly cause cervical cancer and can cause some cancers of Vulva, vagina, anus and oropharynx. It also protects against the HPV types that cause cancer most genital warts.”
Dr. (Prof) GS Moirangthem added, “Men and women aged 9-45yrs are eligible for vaccination. The program was successful and it will create a great impact on elimination of cervical cancer in the state of Manipur.”
Besides creating awareness about cancer prevention among the people of Manipur, Karkinos Healthcare Manipur also conducted Cancer Risk Assessment for all the people who attended the Program.
The attendees were also enrolled for ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Cards. 29 people were vaccinated at the program including 22 women and 7 men.
