New Delhi: Adesh Kumar Gupta has been appointed as the new Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, the party said on Tuesday. Singer-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari has been replaced as the Delhi BJP president by Adesh Kumar Gupta. He was appointed by BJP National President JP Nadda.
Sources say Manoj Tiwari, who was appointed as the Delhi BJP president in 2016, had offered to resign immediately after the disastrous performance in the Delhi assembly election but was asked to continue until an alternative was found.
A statement from the BJP said, “BJP National President JP Nadda has appointed Adesh Kumar Gupta as the Delhi BJP president. The appointment will come into effect immediately.”
Manoj Tiwari took to twitter and said, “I am thankful to all the workers, officials and residents of Delhi for the love and support received during my 3.6 year tenure as Delhi BJP president. Please forgive me for any inadvertent mistakes I might have made. Many congratulations to Adesh Kumar Gupta Ji for his appointment as new Delhi BJP president.”
In another development, the Bharatiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda also appointed former Union Minister Vishnu Deo Sai as the president of Chhattisgarh BJP and Prof S. Tikendra Singh as the new president of Manipur BJP.
